iPad Mini Might Be Limited to WiFi Only While iPad 3 gets Lightning Port

Sources claim that the upcoming mini tablet from Apple, iPad mini, will be WiFi only and accompanied by a refreshed iPad 3 with Lightning connector and LTE support. Apple is hoping that this 7.85-inch tablet will bring them success in the mid-range where they have to compete with Google Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 & Blackberry PlayBook.

iPad mini will lack 3G/4G support, which means the only way iPad mini owners to get online with their slate would be to find a WiFi hotspot or tether to their phone. Still, it's a sensible way for Apple to keep prices down.

According to the sources, Apple is expected to launch the next-gen iPad 3 with their latest A6 processor and also switch from the old 30-pin Dock Connector to its new Lightning port.

Apple is believed to be holding a launch event for iPad mini in the end of this month. We will keep you updated on this. Feel free to comment and let us know your opinions.
