People now a days want to check out what their friends are up to on Facebook, have a group video conference on Google+, seeing your friends’ pictures shared on Instagram or visit XDA developers for having all the technical news about your phone. Accessing to all these sites you will require a different application for each on your Android Smartphone. As we know all the high end phones have the large RAM capacity due to which they do not lag in their performance when multitasking but what about the low budget smartphones ? If we use different applications for every of these sites then surely our phone will start lagging, so to sort out this problem developers have designed an application which will grant you access to all of your social networking accounts at once.

SNOView (Social Network OverView), is the application that we are talking about, it clubs the biggest social networks including Twitter, Google+, Facebook, Instagram, and RSS feeds into a unique yet simple interface. The interface consists of vertically scrolling tabs, which display the feed subscribed to, and once pressed, show an expanded view of feed along with a vertically scrolling 3D cover flow of subscribed feeds and networks. Get Your Facebook And Twitter Feeds Right On Your Home Screen With This Live Wallpaper !!

In Today's world social media has become an integral part in our lives because it keeps us connected, helps following the band we love, getting important news, entertainment or anything you name, and Mobile devices have given them new heights. What makes these mobile so useful,Its the OS and Apps that keeps them driving.

Keeping this in mind Xda-developer Stilv has created an Live wallpaper which lets you set your home screen to be Facebook or twitter timeline and you can see all your feeds on the home screen without even opening the official app.The apps are named as Facebook magic and Twitter magic.I tried this app myself but was not quite impressed with it's lite version and when people don't enjoy your lite version why  would they buy the paid one ?

Both the apps are quite similar in their functionality, you just need to download the app and connect your Facebook or twitter account and set it as your live wallpaper and done you will get all your feeds on your screen. What else do you need,Life's made more easy right ??

But there's a little glitch the lite version refreshes feeds at every 12 hours which is not really good but the paid version provides your with options like  2, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minute update.

"Facebook Graph search" Is It Good Or Creepy,Girls beware !!

Last week Facebook announced it's Graph search and all expected it to legen...dary,but is it really that awesome ?? I was one of the few who registered for the beta version and so i got an opportunity to explore this feature and trust me it's good and bad because it can get really creepy !!

When i logged it into in my Facebook account today,I got a notification and I was guided and given a tour of this graph search which I will show you in a sequence in these photos.

You will see certain changes like your home buttons are shifted to right and graph search option is on the Left.I think it's time for you change your privacy settings and take matters seriously especially for girls.
No doubt Facebook has done an awesome job because it shows quite accurate results and it's algorithm is just right .

I will show you certain examples How Good or Bad it Can get !!

First when you click on search you will get some customized search options like this as shown in the image.

It will automatically retrieve some of the predefined search just as the Google search does and when i click on the "who work in Hackinthus" in the second choice,I get a perfect result.

Now let me show you the ugly Part !

What if I search for Married people who like prostitutes. You can see more than 1000 people, wait that's not it now you can narrower your search by selecting different criteria as shown in the next image.

Now what if I search for My female friends who are single and you can see a whole lot of options that Facebook has worked out for me.Now isn't that creepy ??

It actually depends on how people use it and for what  purpose they are using it for.I will say Facebook has just done an awesome job with this.

My personal request to all girls to please got to their privacy setting and make certain changes about what you want to show about yourself and what not .

The saying might not be right but it’s hard to look at something like the newly launched Facebook Graph search, and not feel like the whole of your being has been stripped down.

Facebook Announced It's Own Search Engine

At Facebook's much awaited event, the company's CEO Mark Zuckerberg introduced Graph Search, a fresh social search engine which will compete with existing ones.
Unlike others, Graph Search does not index the web: as Facebook says, it quite simply does not need to, since the Open Graph platform already has access to “Almost a million new people every day. 240 billion photos. 1 billion people. 1 trillion connections.” Instead of using familiar search engine to look for result, Graph Search makes it really easy to search through your friend’s interests, in order to provide results that might be expecting.

Lets take an example, if you search for "Movies", it will get you list of those movies that most of your friends have 'liked' on Facebook.

Graph Search also works the other way around, means finding users in your friends list that match a specific interest. Like, you can search for "Friends who like Assassin's Creed".

And not to worry about privacy at all : no information can be searched unless you make it available to users. In addition to it, new privacy settings have been introduced in case users wish to hide any of their data from being searched.

Incase Graph Search doesn't show up any results, Bing is integrated to show web results.

Beta version of Graph Search is currently being rolled out only to a small set of users running Facebook in US English. However, Facebook is inviting those who are interested to join the waiting list at: facebook.com/graphsearch.

Facebook To Buy Mobile Chat App WhatsApp Rumour

By Harsh Vardhan (Facebook) (Twitter)

If reports are to be believed, which may turn out to be rumor but for now it seems Facebook is looking to buy multi-platform instant messaging application WhatsApp in a bid to improve its mobile services.

Citing sources close to the matter, Tech Crunch reports the social networking giant has shown keen interest in acquiring WhatsApp. The site, however, could not provide more information about the possible price range or the talks are in which stage right now. Facebook and WhatsApp are yet to comment on the reports.

Buying WhatsApp would make a lot of sense for Facebook, which has of late looked to tap its mobile services to up revenues. WhatsApp, launched in 2009, announced in October last year that it had more than 100 million daily users across the world, sending and receiving 1 billion messages per day. These impressive figures might have prompted Facebook to bring in such features to its social network. It's notable WhatsApp has users base across multiple mobile platforms, including iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Phone.

Right now it's not clear exactly what Facebook would do with WhatsApp if it bought. But it is believed that the move would help deeper integration of the IM with the social networking site.

Reports of Facebook-WhatsApp deal come days after the messenger app drew harsh criticism from security and mobile researchers over the alleged security risks based on its authentication process. According to CNET, various bloggers dubbed the process a “security nightmare”, alleging the app leaked data collected off the device when it's being relayed to services.

Recently, WhatsApp suffered a glitch that showed “error:uknown” as contact status. According to reports, the glitch had affected thousands of users worldwide. The bug was followed by a hoax message urging people who use the app to forward a message to all their contacts or face having their accounts deleted. Read more about the WhatsApp glitch here.

Facebook starts rolling photo Sync feature for android and ios devices !!

BY-Harkirat Singh (Twitter)(Google+)

Facebook,Facebook,Facebook.I think it will not leave any stone Unturned and tries everything possible which can make their users happy and their interface user friendly.Facebook has just announced that they have just started rolling out new photo sync for everyone which makes it easier for you to share photos. With this feature, photos from your phone sync automatically to a private album on the web. When you want to share these photos, just pick and post your favorites.

                                      Credit-facebook

FB on their blog said "We began testing photo sync in August and will continue to make it available to more people. Get the latest Facebook app for Android or iPhone to try it out".There is also a sync from Wi-Fi only so users can manually enable this process to start only when the phone is in the range of a Wi-Fi network. This way the app will not automatically guzzle 3G data.

                                                     (Credit-Rustam/hackinthus)

Those who wish to switch it on right now can enter the Photos section of the app using the left side navigation. They can then tap Photos and the tap Sync at the bottom. Similar steps apply to the web version of the site, with the only difference being that the Photos section will be available directly through the timeline. Images up to 2GB can be synced at a time.

Isn't that great now, uploading your pics after each and every event was so hectic and tiring,First you had to transfer transfer the pics from your phone to you laptop and then upload it.This solves a lot of problem right ??

What do you think about this new feature ???

Be Ready To Comment On A Comment On Facebook

There is no doubt that Facebook is the largest social networking website. And if we compare today's Facebook experience with the one in 2004, you'll hardly recognize it. Over the time Facebook has continuously been making changes as per user demand to make them comfortable with the website.
Rumors are that Facebook is currently testing a new sound based alert system that is designed to give an audible ping whenever user receives a message or someone posts something to user's timeline. We are still not sure about this feature.

As for now, the only way to reply to someone who has commented on a status is to leave your own comment and then tag that person in it by typing their name and selecting the profile from the list. However, this particular system has a flaw in it, due to the fact that you can only tag people who are currently in your friend list. This new feature will allow users to post comments directly to other comments on a status.

A7R7MHiCUAAB3fP

Meredith Chin from Facebook has stated that the company "is testing a new way to add comments to a post on Facebook" and that users will be "able to reply to another comment as well as the original post".

What do you feel about this feature? Like or Dislike? Let us know via comments.

Free Wi-fi for all Facebook users !!

By-Harkirat Singh (Twitter)(Google+)

Good news for Facebook users,Facebook is testing a new Wi-Fi hot spot service for local businesses that lets users surf the net for free if they do a Facebook check-in."When you access Facebook Wi-Fi by checking in, you are directed to your local business's Facebook Page.

                                                                 credit:facebookblog

Developer Waddington wrote in a post on his blog:

In the code used to build the graphs and charts for page insights, there’s a list of all of the possible sources for new likes. Adverts, like buttons, like boxes, search results, and the pages wizard top the list.

However, there’s a new entry — social_wifi. It’s (so far) the only reference I can find for it, so it’s tough to work out exactly how the feature might work.

The explanation for the graph tool tip currently reads, “People who liked your page after checking in via Facebook Wi-Fi.”

I’d suggest that page owners of local businesses would be able to associate their public Wi-Fi hotspots with their Facebook pages. Then, a callout on the Facebook homepage could suggest that Wi-Fi users become a fan of that page.

Facebook confirmed the Wi-Fi test to Inside Facebook, saying:

We are currently running a small test with a few local businesses of a Wi-Fi router that is designed to offer a quick and easy way to access free Wi-Fi after checking in on Facebook. When you access Facebook Wi-Fi by checking in, you are directed to your local business’ Facebook page.

Facebook offers $1 or Rs 50 Talktime for mobile signups and refferals !

 By- Harkirat Singh(Twitter)(Google+)

Facebook, how many of you haven't heard about this ?? I am sure there will be not many people who haven't and i am also sure about it that you all visit Facebook on daily basis, but the fact is world is changing and people are accessing these site via their cell phones, tablets and other portable devices and even Facebook is well versed of this fact. With over 1 billion members and 600 million people on mobile devices they know these numbers will be rising, and more number of people will be accessing these websites by their smart devices
.

So,keeping this in mind to increase their mobile users they have launched an offer in India to give away Rs 50 of talktime to every new user who registers via their number.Wait, its not over people who refer this to new users even they will get talktime of worth Rs 50.The offer is only valid when you register through the special link - http://m.facebook.com/tt.

It appears as the usual registration flow and you do not even require an email address to register this way. Facebook claims to credit the amount in 3 days time. This is an incredible idea by Facebook to increase their mobile subscription but

Will it work in India ??

In India where sim cards are really cheap, will facebook get their original or authentic customers. Here you can get a sim card of worth Rs 10 and Rs 2 to 3 is the cost of an Gprs pack and in return you get a talktime of worth Rs 50.Profit worth rs 38 or 37 not bad actually and we know how frequently we change our Sim cards hearing new offers launched by different telecom brands.
Rs 50 or 100 will not put a dent in Facebook's bank account but still the question remains will it work ??

Do let us know what do you think about it !!

Chat emoticons now supported for Facebook comments !

By-Harkirat Singh(Twitter)(Google+)

Emoticons have been a long time favourite element for expressing your feeling whether it be sad or happy and every chat, forums support this feature and so does Facebook but a new feature has been noticed lately that smileys or emoticons can be seen on comments now.
No doubt Facebook supported emoticons in their chats and messages but now it does on comments on news feed.Facebook has been always testing new things and new features, few days back we reported in the change of notification bar of Facebook but its was on a test basis and now the emoticons support on comments, No doubt Facebook is trying to make it more and more user friendly and its great.

Here you can see the emoticons support on Facebook comments but its still not working on my Facebook page.It will soon as i hope, it takes time to implement a change that to when you are handling over a billion people .

Status updates of Facebook Still don't support this but we can hope for a change soon. You can find the supported emoticons HERE

Bing lets users search Facebook photos within search engine

By Harsh Vardhan (Facebook) (Twitter)

We know Google's main competitor in search engine is Bing. However bing is not much widely used by people across the globe but still they have shown a good rise by creating partnership with the social networking King "Facebook".

So Recently Bing has added a new feature in its search by letting users to search Facebook photos within the search engine. Users can access this via Bing social sidebar or by visiting www.bing.com/friendsphotos.When you use Bing search engine to browse photos, you will get results arranged in Pinterest-style waterfall layout, as in the image shown above.

Being that Facebook has over 900 million users, and has the largest photo database on the Internet, it is a huge ocean of information to tap into that currently is very difficult to navigate. Facebook as a whole tremendously lacks what Google excels at: search. Searching for anything on Facebook is clunky at best. That is where Bing comes in. They are able to give Facebook what they cannot do for themselves.

Bing has also taken care of users' privacy, as it only lists photos that have been made public or viewable to friends by a user. Once users access this tool, images appear as a news feed, showing the most recent picture uploaded first. This tool also lets users comment, like and share Facebook photos, within the search engine.
