Review : Apple EarPods

After a long time, Apple has redesigned its traditional white earphones that comes with every iPod and iPhone. And it has a name too : Apple Earpods . According to Apple, it took around three years to design such an earphone that fits almost every pair of ear present out there and they may have achieved the impossible. Lets start with the introduction video launched by Apple :

As Jony Ive said "Making one headphone to fit everybody's ear would be like trying to make one pair of shoes to fit everybody's feet". But that's what they have done with EarPods. The goal here isn't to deliver a high-end earphone to compete with Sennheiser or SkullCandy but to make the user feel so satisfied with it that they won't upgrade easily. Compared to the previous earphones by Apple, EarPods are way better in both looks as well as sound.

"One Power Guard " An app to save your battery !!

By-Rustam Ali

From the advent of newer smartphones, battery backup has been degrading. For that problem also companies have found out a way by using advanced batteries. But the problem lies here that as the batteries are getting advanced so are the applications, which finally leads to degrading of battery backup.
So in order to overcome this problem XDA developers have developed an application which brings an all-in-one approach to battery life and phone tweaking. You can adjust pretty much anything, including the I/O scheduler, CPU governor, CPU over- or under-clocking, settings tweaks, and more.
There are various modes for power saving included in this application, which are :-

-AI Mode: It intelligently adjusts cpu frequency and optimizes kernel to greatly extend battery time according to system loading.

-Powersave Mode: It runs devices under low frequency to extend standby time.
Game/Video Mode: It provides flow game and video experience while offering satisfactory power-saving strategy.

-Call Mode: It powers up the core function of phone conservation. For business persons trapping by phone.
Standby Mode: It lowers system frequency and prolongs stand-by time to the extreme. For sleepers and dreamers.

-Custom Mode: It indulges pros to customize cpu frequence, scheduling and io adjustment, and to choose parameters of their own.

One Power Guard is simple enough for an Android beginner to understand, yet powerful enough for advanced users.
You can get this application from here.

Apple iPad Mini Or Google's Nexus 7? Which One Should You Invest In?

Apple iPad mini has been finally reveled their mini tablet, The iPad mini. With its smaller size and cheaper price tag, we are expecting it to well in the market in the upcoming holiday season. But, iPad mini is not alone. One of its major competitor in the market will be none other than, Google's Nexus 7.

Now, if you are an iGuy(Apple Lover) or Droid-boy(Android Lover), selecting one of these gadgets is very simple. But for those who are confused as to which one to buy as to achieve maximum utilization for their money, we are there to help you! :-)

Lets start of with the specifications of the two :

Starting with the all new Apple iPad mini, it features :

  • 7.9-inch IPS display with 1024x768 resolution (163 ppi)
  • Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating
  • Apple Dual-Core A5 processor
  • 16GB/32GB/64GB Storage
  • 5MP iSight camera/FaceTime HD Camera
  • 1080p HD video recording
  • 16.3-watt battery
  • 512 MB of RAM

Talking about Google's Nexus 7, it features :
  • 7-inch IPS HD display with 1280 x 800 resolution (216 ppi)
  • 1GHz Tegra 3 Quad-Core Processor
  • 16GB/32GB(might be announced on 29th October)
  • No Rear Camera/1.3MP Front-Facing Camera
  • 4325 mAh Battery
  • 1GB of RAM
  • NFC
Now if you compare, the main part where iPad leads over the Nexus 7 is it's LTE feature. It means you can insert sim and browse so that you don't have to rely on Wi-Fi connectivity in order to use internet. You also get a huge storage option in iPad mini(upto 64 GB) whereas Nexus 7 is only available in a 16 GB variant as on current date. iPad mini also has front as well as rear camera whereas on Nexus 7 you only get a front facing camera.
Seems like iPad is winning all the way... but WAIT!! It's NEXUS 7 man!!

Talking about Software part, iPad mini comes up with iOS 6 and Nexus 7 with the very latest Android JellyBean 4.1.2. Personally, I feel iOS is very simple and straight forward with limited customization which I feel is perfect for a tablet(not for a smartphone). But if you really like playing around with widget and wants to have a different look on your home screen every 2-3 days, iOS is not for you. Android JellyBean offers a variety of customization and you will always have one or the other widget waiting for you in the market to play around with. You also get 'Google Now' on Nexus 7 which is your virtual voice assistant on Android, like Siri. Unfortunately,  Apple iPad mini lacks Siri.
Talking about the battery life, Google's Nexus 7 boasts up 9 hours of HD video playback, 10 hours of web browsing and 300 hours of standby. Apple claims that the iPad mini will get 10 hours of battery life and the company says that it will pull down up to 10 hours of surfing the web over Wi-Fi or watching videos and 9 hours over cellular data.

Lets have a look at the pricing of these two gadgets,

  • Google's Nexus 7 16GB : $249

  • iPad mini 16GB Wi-Fi Only -$329
  • iPad mini 32GB Wi-Fi Only – $429
  • iPad mini 64GB Wi-Fi Only – $529
  • And, the 4G LTE models.

  • iPad mini 16GB 4G LTE – $459
  • iPad mini 32GB 4G LTE – $559
  • iPad mini 64GB 4G LTE – $659

Now, Apple iPad mini or Google's Nexus 7?
Well, If you are more hardware specific you should definitely go for the Apple iPad mini but if you are software specific, Nexus 7 is the one for you. It all comes up-to what you prefer for your gadget. Think and invest so that you don't regret.

A New layout for Facebook messages !!

By-Harkirat Singh(Twitter)(Google+)

It seems Facebook just love changes and make it more and more user friendly.Back in August Facebook changed the layout of  messages to give it a look of more or less like an email. The new look makes it even easier to go through all your messages and make changes.Below are the screenshots of the changed look which i got from Facebook news page.I could have taken the screen shot of my Facebook message page but they are personal (:P).

 Interactive Swim wrote:
"A new Facebook messaging platform is on the way! Not fully rolled out, we’re special and part of the early release, so here are some details for you. It allows you message anyone in your life (not just FB users) add multiple pictures and emoticons to your messages, and search specific keywords to find recent convos. Look for it to head your way soon."

The new side-by-side layout lets you click your most recent message on the left to see the whole conversation on the right. You can also bring conversations to life with multiple photos and emoticons.

Now you can search by a sender’s name or keyword from the main messages view. And for easier navigation, we’ve added keyboard commands. To see the full list of available shortcuts, type Alt Q on a PC or Control Q on a Mac.The announcement was made on Facebook news Page
