I m pretty sure you might be knowing what iTunes is :) Officially any transfer of media between your i Devices you need an iTunes.

Although the rise and rise of the iPod, then iPhone, then iPad has seen iTunes downloaded hundreds of millions of times, it has struggled to shake off its label as a slow, resource-hog of an app, and with a big update now upon us, it looks as though Apple has gone some way into fixing up its 10+ year old jukebox.

The new look comprises of improved support for iCloud, the all-new unobtrusive mini-player with quick access to music controls and a much more simpler and revamped UI.

BY-Harkirat Singh (Twitter)(Google+)

Yes i know even i felt the same,25 MB space was very less for an attachment so finally google heard the voice of their customers and now they allow 10 GB attachments with Google drive.Google Drive launched in April, millions of people have started using Drive to keep, create and share files. Starting today, it’s even easier to share with others: you can insert files from Drive directly into an email without leaving your Gmail. Now with Drive, you can insert files up to 10GB -- 400 times larger than what you can send as a traditional attachment. USB Tethering on a Mac

By-Rustam Ali

USB and WiFi tethering has been common to Android running devices, tethering is a process of using a mobile internet data on another device by connecting it via USB or by creating a WiFi hot-spot. MAC users were devoid of USB tethering but now developers have created an application using which they can also access this feature on their MAC running devices.

HoRNDIS (pronounce: “horrendous”) is a driver for Mac OS X that allows you to use your Android phone's native USB tethering mode to get Internet access. It is known to work with Mac OS X versions 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) through 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion), and has been tested mostly on Galaxy Nexuses running Jelly Bean. This application is easy to setup on your computer and use.

Installing procedure of HoRNDIS :

-Download the latest binary package, and double-click on it in your Downloads folder. Follow the instructions in the installer.
-Assuming that the installation proceeds without errors, after it completes, connect your phone to your Mac by USB.
-Enter the settings menu on your phone.
-In the connections section, below Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, select “More…”.
-Select “Tethering & portable hotspot”.
-Check the “USB tethering” box. It should flash once, and then become solidly checked.

This application is available for download here

Smart WiFi Toggler for All Android devices

By-Rustam Ali

Most of the mobile users nowadays face problem in switching between a combination of WiFi and mobile data regularly. And in this process if you leave your WiFi on after leaving a WiFi hot spot your battery will get drained sufficiently. Well developers have found a cure to it, they have devised an application that allows your phone to sense a hot spot and turn on WiFi and as soon as yo leave that hot spot it switches off your WiFi and automatically switch from WiFi to mobile data to conserve battery.

Smart WiFi Toggler is designed to control your phone's WiFi using cell tower triangulation, so you don’t need to worry about GPS-induced battery drain. Its main aim is to conserve battery and minimize data charges by switching between mobile and WiFi networks according to the preferred network present. It constantly learns where your hotspots are located to make its decisions.

- Automatically learns your WiFi hotspot locations.
- Turns WiFi off when disconnected from WiFi network.
- Automatically turns WiFi on when near a known hotspot.
- Uses your network location. No GPS battery drain.
- Provides the ability to control "auto-connect" behavior for each hotspot.
- Ability to lock WiFi to a disabled state.
- Warning notification and auto-locking WiFi when a hotspot is down.
- History and logging, in addition to a view of what is going on under the hood.

The application is a free application and can work on all devices running on Android 2.2 and higher versions.
You can download this application from here.

Google voice updated for iOS6 and iPhone 5 !!

BY-Harkirat Singh (Twitter)(Google+)

For those  who all are not aware of what Google voice is,let me tell you what it actually does. It's an app for iOS gives you access to your Google Voice account from your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. This update was really late as more than two month has passed since the launch of iPhone 5 and ios 6.The US-only service allows you to make phone calls , send free text messages, make low-cost international calls and listen to voicemails with transcription, right from your mobile device.

Our biggest gripe however remains with the lack of a Google Maps app for iOS.Unfortunately Google isn't exactly alone, because many apps have been slow to update for that four inches of a taller screen. Zipcar, Bing, and Nike+ Running are a couple of notable examples, although at this point, most major apps seem to be on board.

Ericsson: The number of smartphone users to increase to 3 billion by 2017

By Harsh Vardhan (Facebook) (Twitter)

The Swedish telecommunications giant Ericsson, has just released the results to a study it’s been conducting focusing on smartphone users. Currently, the number of smartphone users worldwide is somewhere in the region of 700 million. However, the projections are that in the next five years that figure could quadruple to more than 3 billion.

Although it’s worth being more than a little cautionary when dealing with long-term forecasts, especially within the mobile sector, these projected facts and figures are not to be ignored. According to this study, the amount of traffic caused by mobile devices data volume has doubled within one year. Ericsson believes that this volume of data will increase a further twelve fold in the next six years.

Smartphones already play a key role in the increase of data traffic and with 40 percent of all mobile sales in the third quarter of 2012 being smartphones, that’s a trend that doesn’t seem to have an end in sight. With those sorts of figures it’s not hard to see where the projections from Ericsson are coming from.

Ericsson has also suggested that by the end of this year, there will be approximately 6.6 billion active mobile phone contracts. In a world of 7 billion people that figure is disproportionately high as Ericsson has taken into their calculations a percentage of people that have more than one contract, perhaps 1 for a mobile and another for a tablet.

To cope with the influx in global data Ericsson expects a large increase in LTE networks that can handle the increased volume in traffic and offer download speeds in the 100Mbps range.  There is also a more advanced LTE system (LTE-Advanced) that can offer even superior download speeds on supported devices.

Google Planning Their Own Notebook with a Touchscreen & Chrome OS

By Harsh Vardhan (Facebook) (Twitter)

We all know Google is giant in search engines and they have shown huge rise in their other products. Talking anything about such as the Gmail or the Chrome OS, Google is everywhere and also has the top engineers and technicians working for them. The possibility to step further can't be avoided any how by them as it's seen that they are making advancement to launch their own Touch Screen Notebook having the Chrome OS.

Google is getting tired of other manufacturers making products for them. First on the scene was the Nexus smartphone line, then the Nexus 7 & 10 tablets appeared and now a touchscreen notebook with Chrome OS is in the works.

According to the Chinese-language newspaper Commercial Times, Google is planning a touchscreen notebook that they will sell under their own brand name. The notebook will be a somewhat unusual size with a 12.85-inch display. Displays of 12.5, 13.1 and 13.3-inches are much more common. This is purely speculative, but perhaps the device will have a screen in 4:3 format, which could explain the strange diagonal.

The notebook will reportedly run Chrome OS and have a touchscreen, so it will be like another type of Chromebook. Google will work in collaboration with the Taiwanese contract manufacturer Compal, who is also the responsible production. The touch panel is said to come from Taiwanese supplier Wintek. The supply chain has already begun to manufacture the parts for the new touch-notebook from Google, they say. The delivery of the first finished devices is expected in late 2012. It is still undecided when the Google Notebook will make its debut in the market.

It will be interesting to see how Chrome OS works with a touchscreen format. What do you think about Google’s latest plans? Do let us know in our comment section.

Aircel Told To Pay 5 Paise Per SMS To Vodafone

By Harsh Vardhan (Facebook) (Twitter)

The telecom disputes tribunal directed Aircel to pay SMS termination fee of 5 paise per message to Vodafone till the matter is finally resolved by it. It also directed Vodafone to immediately restore its interconnection of SMSs generated on Aircel's network.

Passing an interim order, the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal ( TDSAT) asked Aircel to pay 5 paise, half of Vodafone's demand of 10 paise per SMS, as termination fee.

Termination charges are paid by an operator on whose network calls or SMSs originate to the one on whose network these communications end. The charges impact tariffs.

A single-member bench of PK Rastogi was of view that if SMS services between the two operators are disconnected then the consumers would suffer. agencies

"There is a need to examine whether the rates of termination charges demanded by the respondent (Vodafone) are in accordance with the regulation ... and whether such charges are transparent, reciprocal and nondiscriminatory," it said.

The tribunal asked Vodafone to file a reply to Aircel's plea within three weeks. It also granted two weeks time to Aircel to file the rejoinder. agencies

The matter has been listed for January 10, 2013 for final hearing.

In October, Vodafone had demanded Rs 40 crore as SMS termination fee plus applicable tax for the period between April 2011 and September 2012, which was opposed by Aircel.

Vodafone had asked Aircel to clear the dues within 15 days by November 9, 2012. It had also disconnected the SMS termination facility in 5 circles.

It was opposed by Aircel contending that arrangement between them for SMS services was on "bill and keep basis" and Vodafone had unilaterally proposed charging 10 paise SMS termination, which was "arbitrary and illogical".
