How To Port Sony Xperia Jelly Bean 4.1 Lock Screen To Other Xperia Running ICS

There is a cool thing that has been launched for Ice Cream Sandwitch Sony Xperia users. A senior member in XDA erorcun has found a new way from which we can get Android Jelly Bean 4.1 lock-screen on any other ICS Sony Xperia device.

The list of supported device for this technique includes Xperia Arc, Xperia Ray, Xperia Sola and Xperia S. There are however two versions of lock-screen. The first features permanent ‘slide-to-unlock’ text in the middle of the screen, whereas the second only displays the text after the third unlock attempt.

It works on all ICS roms which supports ICS Xperia lock-screen and you will probably require a minimum RAM usage of 2.5 MB.

All you have to do is first don't try to install it - put it to system/app, set right permissions and reboot. You are done!

It will appear like the image below-

Download Links:

  • If you want permanent "slide-to-unlock" text - Don't forget to delete "(2)" at the end.

Download Link

  • If you don't want to see it after 3 unlock get it here.

Sony’s Jelly Bean lock screen is a very attractive update from the standard used ‘left-to-right slide’ lock screen of previous Xperia devices, and this may tide many Xperia users over till the official Android Jelly Bean update.

After Sony Xperia Z Phablet,Xperia Z Tablet Is On It's Way !!

I think around 10 days back at CES'13,the Japanese Giant Sony released Xperia Z with which it entered the race of Phablets competing with Samsung,Htc and other brands. We have been getting Rumors about the Xperia Z tablets, and Sony has announced it officially Today in Japan. It had gained a lot of attention in CES and people were loving this Phone.According to one of my friends named Arpit who is a big Apple fan said "This is the only phone I would go instead of an iPhone".

Getting into it's Specifications it has a a 10.1-inch 1,920 x 1,200 screen (with Mobile Bravia Engine 2)with  a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core APQ8064 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, an 8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera, NFC, LTE (MDM9215M radio).. It will be available in black and white colour options.

Sony has blasted the market with launching smartphones one after another,It had even launched Xperia S tablets but was shut down due to some defects. We hope this time there are no hiccups.

But the big question is Will it be able to compete with iPad ?? Let us see and hope for the best.

CES '13 : Sony Announces Xperia Z & Xperia ZL

Sony Xperia Z & Xperia ZL were announced today. The two smartphones are very identical to each other, except that Xperia ZL will be available only for certain markets. Sony is making an attempt to enter the phablet market with these two phones.

Sony Xperia Z
Sony Xperia Z features a 5-inch 1080 display and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It uses BRAVIA 2 Engine for providing users with excellent picture quality. It has a powerful 1.5 GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm processor with Adreno 320 GPU with massive 2 GB RAM and is just 7.9 mm thin. It has a 13 MP camera which uses an EXMOR R2 Sensor with an LED flash and a 2MP secondary camera. It comes with an default 16 GB internal memory which can be boosted up with an available microSD card slot. This massive beast is powered by a 2330 mAh battery.

That's not it!! Now comes the most awesome feature about this phone.. it's dust & water resistant with an IP55 and IP57 rating.
Sony has also come up with an "One Touch System", which allows you to share stuffs on the device with other Sony devices such speakers and TVs. As expected, there is also a PlayStation Mobile support.

It will be available in 3 colors : Black, White & Purple.
There is no info regarding the pricing as of now.

Sony Xperia ZL
Coming to Xperia ZL, it has the same 5-inch 1080p (1920x1080) Reality display with Bravia Engine 2 and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 1.5 GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm processor with Adreno 320 GPU, 2 GB RAM, 13 MP camera which uses an EXMOR R2 Sensor with an LED flash, 2MP secondary camera, 16 GB internal memory expandable with an available microSD card slot and a 2330 mAh battery.

So whats the difference?? Well, Its not water and dust resistant like Xperia Z. It's thicker comapred to Xperia Z at 9.8mm and has a different back body casing unlike the glass body. Apart from few of these, everything is same with PlayStation mobile support, 4G LTE support and One Touch System.
It will be avaible in 2 colors : Black and White

Looks like Sony is all ready to bounce back into the market with their 2 phablets.

Rooting Sony Xperia : S,T,P,Acro S,Ion,Tipo,Tablet S,Go,Sola,U

Sony has really being doing well with its Xperia 2012 series this year. And with ICS released for almost all Xperia phones, user are very much interested in rooting their smartphones to get the best out of it.

What's rooting? Well,  Rooting is basically becoming the 'super-user' of your android device. Unlocking functions of the device that are locked from the factory, and gaining access to the file and operating system that you cant otherwise access. It invalidates warranty. If don't follow the procedure properly you may end up with a "bricked" device that is hard or impossible to restore, It's unlikely but possible.

This rooting method will work only for Android 4.0(ICS) and above.

Sony Xperia ion Review

By- Rustam Ali

After Sony broke its colaboration with Ericsson and became just Sony Mobile, it has flooded the cellphone market with new phones, most of them having only minor diffferences between each other.
The latest of Sony's creation is the Sony Xperia ion, which also seems to be an upgraded model of the previous Sony Xperia S in a lot many ways. Further in this review we will cover every aspect of this new phone and see its differences and uniqueness in comparison with the Sony Xperia S.

Design

The biggest difference between these two phones is the design, while Xperia S had a transparent glass strip at the bottom and three keys below the display, Xperia ion is monolithic in design and has four keys below the display. The Xperia ion comes with an metallic back cover whereas Xperia S has a plastic backcover.

Display

The Sony Xperia S had a 4.3-inch HD display and the Sony Xperia ion has a 4.5-inches HD display

Finally Android 4.0.4 (ICS) is officially out for Sony Xperia U after a long wait.  You can now update your Xperia U to  Android 4.0.4 ICS by connecting it to your PC suite provided by Sony.

Benchmark test was performed for Sony Xperia U before(Gingerbread) and after upgrading to ICS. The results were following :

Sony has always been famous for providing users with the best possible interface. Looking at these images certainly proves it. Getting Jelly Bean update for Xperia U is highly doubtful as of now.
