Course Notes Beta : Review

There are many developers out there developing apps for user's entertainment purposes, but very few out there who utilize this platform to spread education and one them is Burrow Applications.

Burrow Applications has been developing apps for quiet a time now and all of them are pretty useful. One of their famous app that we reviewed was App Manager For Android.

They are back with something that will surely turn out to be useful for all those who are pursuing graduation. Its called Course Notes. Its right under Beta testing so that they can gather reviews from audience and come up with something they want.

We used this app personally for a while and found it quite useful as we too are pursuing graduation. This app has a very clean and easy-to-use interface with right and left slider similar to Facebook's mobile application.
As soon as you open the app, you will be welcomed with a list of subjects which can be sorted in any order depending on class number, name, last updated and contain subjects varying from Biology,Anthropology,Physiology, Introduction to C,U.S History,Lethal and Ethical Event of Business,Chemistry and many more.

You can then select the subject you have interest in and a right slider will come up which will contain different chapters and presentations that they have arranged from different universities and compiled to deliver what you want at your finger tips.

No need to Google course and books. No need of making accounts on different cloud storage sites to download books. Its that simple and easy.
As soon as you select the chapter you want to study it will be downloaded in left hand slider and then you can open and study it whenever you feel like. Just a small little thing that I would suggest is that they should provide the size of the file that has to be downloaded.

I would suggest all our reader to do try this app and I'm sure you guys will find it really useful.

Sony Xperia Z Review

Its here!! Sony's best in a smartphone - XPERIA Z. The much awaited Sony's flagship device is here in India. The phone was initially revealed at CES 2013 where it was marketed as 'water-proof and dust-proof smartphone' with all top-notch hardware specifications. Xperia Z is priced at ₹37,990 in India.
Lets go through every aspect of this smartphone and see how much effort Sony has put into this thing.

Design and Build Quality

No doubt, the phone looks stunning. Sony has really put in a lot of effort on making this phone look different from existing ones and they have succeeded to some level. (HTC One aluminum shell casing takes away the crown). The phone is glass-cased just like iPhone 4/4S from front and back which makes the phone very fragile to drops and it's not even Gorilla Glass which is quiet a turn down.

Xperia Z being a water-proof phone, all the ports are covered with a clip-case. This is quite  annoying as one has repeatedly open and close those ports for multiple purposes like listening to songs, charging, data transfer etc.
Xperia Z is available in 3 colors : Black , White & Purple

Screen

Sony Xperia Z comes with 5.0 inch FULL HD TFT capacitive touchscreen with resolution of 1080x1920 pixels carrying a pixel density of 441 ppi. The phone is also powered with Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 which makes sure that user is never disappointed with the visual experience of the phone. Not Gorilla, but Xperia Z does come with Shatter proof and scratch-resistant glass.

Processor And Memory

Xperia Z is powered by with 1.5 GHz Krait Qualcomm MDM9215M / APQ8064 Quad-core Processor with Adreno 320 GPU and 2 GB RAM.  It comes with a built-in 16 GB internal memory which is expandable upto 64GB via Micro SD slot.

Software

Sony Xperia Z runs Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) which means you get Google Now, Project Butter and many other improvements.

Camera

Xperia Z packs in 13MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash producing images with resolution of 4128x3096 pixels. The additional features includes face detection, image stabilization, HDR, sweep panorama. It record videos at 1080p @ 30fps with video stabilization.
It also features a 2.2 MP secondary camera which too records video at 1080p @ 30fps.

Battery

Sony Xperia Z is juiced up by 2330 mAh non-removable battery which will keep your phone up for a day on moderate use. But if you are social-freak, it might disappoint you.

Conclusion

Overall, Sony Xperia Z is really nice smartphone for the current market. Where all other companies are launching their flagship devices at a price tag of 43-45k, Sony is giving you similar configuration at a much lesser price and great performance.

We Like Sony Xperia Z..!!

Nokia Lumia 620 Review

The most awaited Windows Phone 8 finally launched in India, Nokia Lumia 620. This phone brings all the major features of a Windows Phone 8 Smartphone at a very affordable price. Initally, it was tagged as "the cheapest Windows Phone 8 Smartphone" but now we also have Lumia 520 waiting for it's release in India.

The day Lumia 620 got released in India,  I was there in an Nokia Priority Store experiencing this device and exactly 6 Lumia 620 were purchased right in front of me. This clearly show how people were desperately waiting for this device to launch. Nokia Lumia 620 is priced at ₹14,990.
No time to waste, lets go through this phone and see what it has to offer.

In The Box

Nokia Lumia 620 comes with a very limited amount of accessories which is pretty decent for the price you are getting it for. Apart from the smartphone, the box contains the usual earphones(not the in-ear), a USB cable, charger and phone's manual.

Build Quality

Well, Nokia has never disappointed us when it comes to build quality. The back casing of Lumia 620 is solid.(Like a Rock!!) After a long time I saw such a casing for a smartphone. Weighing in at just 127g, one can easily say this phone can take any humps and bumps but easily attracts fingerprints which can be quiet annoying. The same cannot be said for the display as its not gorilla glass. There is a dedicated camera key located below the power button on the right side of the phone and volume keys just above the power key. The 3.5mm jack is situated above the phone on the left side.

Screen

Nokia Lumia 620 comes with 3.8 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen with resolution of 480 x 800 pixels carrying a pixel density of 246 ppi which produces sharp and decent images. You will not be disappointed with the visual experience of this phone.

 Processor & Memory

Nokia Lumia 620 is powered by 1 GHz Krait Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4. It comes with built-in  8GB internal memory and expandable upto 64GB.

Software

Lumia 620 runs the latest Windows Phone 8 OS which makes it a catch for people looking for WP 8 at an affordable price. The OS is totally smooth and there are no noticeable lags.  The live tiles just works like a charm no matter the amount of applications you pin to start. But then again, lack of apps on this platform is quiet a drawback for now.
The phone is filled with Nokia apps which includes Nokia Drive, Nokia Maps (Offline Maps), Nokia Music and City Lens.

 Camera

Lumia 620 packs in a 5 MP camera with LED flash and auto focus and a secondary VGA camera.

The below pictures are taken using Lumia 620's primary camera.

Videos on Lumia 620 can be recorded at 720p at 30fps.

Battery

At last, Nokia Lumia 620 comes with 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery (BL-4J) which is really bad. If you are on 3G, it won't even last a day. If you are out somewhere on trip, its better not to rely on Lumia 620.

Conclusion

The phone stands upto any challenge in its range and its a must buy for those who are looking a sturdy phone with a reliable brand on it. The only place where one has to sacrifice is it's battery life.

Thumbs Up For Nokia Lumia 620!!

Lava XOLO A1000 Review

Lava Mobile has launched XOLO A1000, a 5 inch smartphone that has all-around good specifications and pleasing looks. The XOLO A1000 has a 5.0-inch, 1280 x 720 resolution IPS display. This phone is incorporated with  the One Glass Solution (OGS) that includes the display, the touch sensor and the glass in one layer, making the phone thinner by reducing the air gap between all the three and improving the image quality. The A1000 runs on a MediaTek MT6577 chipset with a dual-core 1GHz CPU and PowerVR SGX531 GPU. The basic dimensions of this phone is just 70.8mm wide and 8.8mm thick, making it easier for single handed operation.

The other features that it packs is 1GB of RAM, 4GB internal memory and the memory can be expanded upto 32 GB via a microSD card. It has a 8 megapixel camera with BSI sensor and a 1.2 megapixel front camera with BSI sensor and a LED flash, which caters 720p video recording. Connectivity options are rounded off by the presence 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB. It runs on the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean  OS platform and a 2,100mAh battery.  About which company claims that this phone will have talktime of around 14 hours on the 2G network with the phone having a talk time ability of around 10 hours on 3G network. The Lava XOLO A1000 is priced at ₹13,999 in India.
To sum it up this phone is a great device to be owned at such a low cost, but the only demerits lies that this company is not well established in the smartphones market. But it can also be in seen in a way of boosting its image in this market amongst the newly emerging phones companies like Micromax.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Review

Samsung Galaxy Grand is an attempt to provide users with a feel of top-end devices, such as Galaxy S III & Note II, at a very affordable price and decent specs. With Micromax launching it's very first Quad-core smartphone A116 Canvas HD for just  ₹15,500 (Apprx.), users now have a bunch of android phones to choose in the mid-range budget and they usually prefer brands like Micromax, Karbonn and Xolo over Samsung's Galaxy Ace Plus and HTC's Desire series. To overcome this to a limit, Samsung released Galaxy Grand, a mid-range budget smartphone priced at 21500

Screen

Samsung Galaxy Grand comes with a massive 5'inch WVGA with resolution of 480 x 800 pixels with  a pixel density of 187ppi which is quiet decent but a HD screen would have made it a killer deal. Now, at a much lesser price Micromax is providing customers with a 720p IPS display with a pixel density of 294ppi.

Processor & Memory

Galaxy Grand is powered by 1.2GHz Dual-Core Broadcom processor (not Exynos). It comes with a built-in 8 GB internal memory (which is twice compared to Micromax Canvas HD A116) and expandable upto 64GB (32GB in Canvas HD A116).

Software

Galaxy Grand runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung's Touchwiz UI and includes almost all the demanding features from it's big brothers like Smart Stay, Pop up Play and Direct Call

Connectivity

Galaxy Grand also becomes the very first phablet to include the dual-SIM facilty in the mid-range zone with Quad-band 2G supported by both the SIM slots, whereas 3G connectivity is supported only by SIM1 slotWeighing in at just 162g , Galaxy Grand is 20g lighter than the Galaxy Note II and is one of the few phones in its segment to feature a dual-band Wi-Fi ‘n' which provides users with much faster connectivity.

Camera

Galaxy Grand packs in a 8 MP camera with LED flash and digital image stabilization which helps you take decent shots in low light. Resolution is similar to that of Galaxy Note II. Videos on Galaxy Grand can be recorded at 1080p at 30fps.

Battery

Last but not the least, Samsung Galaxy Grand comes with 2100 Li-ion mAh battery which  provide users with quiet a decent amount of talk time in addition to other activities such as media, browsing, gaming, etc.

Conclusion

Samsung Galaxy Grand seems to be a very good investment for those who wishes for S III and Note II but can't really afford it. Not only that, it also provide users with features which most of the smartphones don't in that particular price range.

Thumbs up for Galaxy Grand!!

Samsung Galaxy Camera,Is it worth it ?

The days are not far when microwave ovens and refrigerators will work on android . With the recent developments in android,it has given it a wider ability to be implemented on Devices other than Mobile devices,Samsung has very smartly exploited its potential by launching Samsung Galaxy Camera.

Samsung has already been producing dedicated cameras and smartphones so it was quite smart of Samsung to merge both the awesome features. It is a first of it's kind, All the imaging, sharing, video and photo editing prowess of Android and Samsung’s TouchWiz software were present, put behind a real dedicated camera with a 16-megapixel sensor, 21X optical zoom and optical image stabilization.

Not only this as it works on Android 4.1.1 you can use it as an android device and download apps, play games and much more, you just can't make calls. :P

I can give a in-depth review about the device but i am sure you don't want to go into technical specification details so i would make some points which will make you comfortable  to and easy to understand whether you should go for this device or not.

What's Good

  • A very awesome and attractive design.
  • 21-X Zoom and optical stabilization
  • All features of Galaxy S3
  • Android support with Recent updates of 4.1.2 which makes it more than a just a camera
  • 16 megapixel 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor .
  • Excellent Macro and video performance
  • Responsive touch sreen makes it easy to use
What's bad
  • Over priced
  • A little Over sized
  • Photo quality at the price you pay is not up to mark
  • Bad response at low light
  • Battery life is not that good

It might not be the best camera available in the market but its real fun to use this device and it's a treat for tech enthusiast.Image quality is also good, better compared to high end phones and can be compared to some of the trending cameras in the market.People may not mind a little shortcoming on the photo quality because of its sharing abilities and compactness compared to DSLRs and CSCs.

If you love clicking photos and share it on the go, This device is made for you and should definitely go for this device.

Review : Apple EarPods

After a long time, Apple has redesigned its traditional white earphones that comes with every iPod and iPhone. And it has a name too : Apple Earpods . According to Apple, it took around three years to design such an earphone that fits almost every pair of ear present out there and they may have achieved the impossible. Lets start with the introduction video launched by Apple :

As Jony Ive said "Making one headphone to fit everybody's ear would be like trying to make one pair of shoes to fit everybody's feet". But that's what they have done with EarPods. The goal here isn't to deliver a high-end earphone to compete with Sennheiser or SkullCandy but to make the user feel so satisfied with it that they won't upgrade easily. Compared to the previous earphones by Apple, EarPods are way better in both looks as well as sound.
