Budget 2013:Mobile Phones Get Costlier In India !!

Finance Minister has increased the duty on Mobile Phones from 1 to 6 percent, but there is no increase in the price of basic cell phones priced till 2K.

Let me explain it to you in a simpler language. For a rise of every Rs10000 the price will rise by Rs 495.Which means the cell phone priced at 10K will now cost 10,495.A 20K cell phone will cost 20,990 and continued. What impact will it have on consumer behavior is still to be seen but I don't think anything positive will come out of it .

Google Glass : What It Actually Is

'Google Glass' - Many of us have heard about it - Many of us want to own it, but ever wondered what Google Glass Actually is? What it does? Well, Hackinthus is here to let you know about this amazing gadget!

For some, Google Glass is just another waste-of-money kind of gadget and seems useless to them. While for others, its like some cool must-have futuristic-looking gadget which allows you to have your personal computer right in front of your eyes. But then again, Will you really wear this stuff in public??

What All Super-Powers You Gain Once You Are Connected To Google Glass

Well, Google wants us to have a hands-free smartphone experience where you can access all the information without looking down at your smartphone. Google Glass is basically an Android powered device which produces a display image right above the right eye with information like messaging and map directions via voice commands. It comes with an inbuilt 720p front camera which allow users to take pictures or stream live video.(wow!)

It also comes with built-in Wi-Fi which can tether via an Android Smartphone or an iPhone.

Will You Be Needing These Super-Powers?

Answering this question is quiet tough for us as it varies from person to person. But what we can do is change your mindset about this device with this video.
This is a demo video from Google which shows you how it feels when you wear Google Glass.

Amazing right?? But will people really be able to walk everywhere with this weird looking device on their face? Specially in India, where people just won't stop staring at you no matter where you go.

When Can You Get Hold Of This Device

Google will be launching the consumer version of Glass by the end of this year. But they have already started giving out developer models for a price tag of $1500(80000).(Ouch!)
We are expecting the price to be more reasonable once the gadget is publicly launched. Currently, Google Glass will be available in five different avatars : black, white, blue, gray and orange.

We are really excited about this device as it might just change everything. Are you too excited??
Please let us know via comments.

MWC'13-Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 : What It Has To Offer?

Finally after all the rumors and leaked pictures, Samsung's new baby tablet has finally been announced. Its called the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. It was one of the worst-kept secrets recently and we all were expecting this device to come out soon enough.

Talking about the device, Galaxy Note 8.0 is designed fairly well and with just 338g, it feels really comfy in your hands. Samsung claims that they were inspired by the standard Moleskine notebook while designing this device.

Getting down to specs, it's powered by a 1.6Ghz quad-core Exynos processor running Android Jellybean 4.1.2 and packs in a massive 2GB of RAM. The 8 inch HD screen is quiet stunning producing 189 ppi enhanced with a feature called “Readers Mode” that automatically adjusts the screen settings while reading e-books.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is boosted with a massive 4800 mAh battery which will easily last for more than a day with heavy usage.

The 5.0 MP camera on the Galaxy 8.0 is not as great as we were expecting but then again using a tablet as your primary camera device, not a good idea.

Don't you think we are forgetting something?? Ya, right. When there is 'Note', there is 'S-Pen'. Note 8.0 features a “Premium Suite” of applications designed to utilize the S Pen (which includes multi-window) . And the good news is, it allows third-party developers to use S pen's hover-gestures to add new features into their very own software.(Great!!) They have also added a new remote program that acts like universal TV remote.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will be available in two variants : 3G-enabled & WiFi Only and will be launched in the second quarter of this year.

It will interesting to see how tough it proves out to be in front of iPad mini and Nexus 7.

It also contains a earphone jack which may be used for voice chat and also the PS4’s built-in 3D camera detects the player using the light bars. Mostly it can be called as PS Vita styled touch-pad.

The hardware is somewhat trying to borrow tricks from mobile games which allows users to put there game in freeze and easily resume without actually turning on/off their console. The advanced video sharing option has enabled users to stream videos while playing them. The background downloading system allows users to play games before they are installed completely on your local drive. Another important change in gaming pattern observed in PS4 is that you can help your friend remotely to get out of a tough point where he is struck. iOS and Android platform users will soon see an update app which will allow them to control their PS4 from their smartphones. There's also a huge PS Vita integration.

Apple Loses The Trademark "iPhone" In Brazil

Last week we posted about the trouble Apple was facing in Brazil. It was claimed that Gradiente Eletronica SA, a Brazilian consumer electronics maker have registered "iPhone" way back in 2000 before iPhone was introduced to this world. It had also launched a line-up of Android power smartphone which was called "iPhone" back in December 2012.

Today according to BBC Report Apple has lost the case in Brazil. So finally it was unfavorable against Apple now that they don't have the right to use trademark "Apple iPhone"  in Brazil. The Brazilian Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) has ruled in favor of Brazilian electronics firm IGB Electronics SA which owned the rights for the name “iPhone” in Brazil since the early 2000′s.

People should not confuse that Apple could not use the name iPhone now in Brazil, but it means that the existing company IGB Electronics SA which had lined up Android devices with name iPhone can continue with the name. For the American company Apple, they wanted to use the name iPhone in Brazil, as they had a strong market base there for the consumers in Brazil. In certain rumor we even came to know IGB had earlier contacted Apple for selling their name iPhone to them but Apple had turned down the offer to find other possible legal options.

This could worsen the situation for Apple sales in Brazil. However lets wait for the future to see about the stats.

Apple T.V Now Available In India For Rs 8,295 !!

Hello,I hope you are not confusing it with a television set right ?? Many of us have a confusion thinking it's an Apple TV but it's not. How can you expect it worth Rs 8295 ? Apple TV allows consumers to wirelessly stream media content from their iTunes account to their television.

It was spotted on apple's official website though there's no official statement for the Same.
Apple on their website said
"With Apple TV, everything you want to watch — films, some in 1080p, photo slideshows and more — plays wirelessly on your widescreen TV. No managing storage. No syncing to your iTunes library. HD films from iTunes play over the Internet on your HDTV, and music and photos stream from your computer. All you have to do is click and watch"

Apple TV supports up to 1080 pixel resolution, and features an HDMI port, a micro-USB port, Ethernet port, a built-in IR receiver (for the remote) and supports WiFi connectivity. HTC One : A Quick Look

The wait is over!! HTC One has finally been announced. It will be competing with Apple iPhone 5, Blackberry Z10, Nokia Lumia 920 and some of his own brothers, i.e, Flagship Android devices.

Talking about Htc One's Specification, its packed with the top-most hardware available in the market. It runs on Google's Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and features the much awaited Htc's Sense 5.0 UI. It is powered by  Qualcomm quad-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz. It features a 4.7 inch screen with 1080p (Full HD) resolution and boosts 2GB RAM

Htc has never disappointed users when it comes to build quality and the same remains for One too, which has a unibody metal design which looks just amazing. The phone will be available in two variants, 32GB and 64GB. Like most of Htc's devices, there's no support for microSD card. Htc One is juiced up with 2300 mAh battery.

According to Htc, One's main feature is it's Camera which comes with a technology that is apparently way better than the ones used in the existing smartphones. HTC One camera will capture photos in just four mega pixels but the secret lies within what it does with these pixels.
Htc's Official said,
"For years, people have been misled about what is important in a camera - what matters is not pixel count, but pixel size. Bigger pixels let in more light, it's simple physics... We're trying to balance out what a lens can support and what a sensor can support. We're talking about real image quality, not just megapixels for the sake of megapixels. The era of the megapixel is over."
Htc claims that this camera can capture 300% more light than any other smartphone's camera and also produces better HDR images and videos. Similar to Nokia Lumia 920, it is equipped with optical image stabilization. It has a 2.1 MP secondary camera which is quiet decent to making video calls,
Htc One is also attached with Htc's upgraded speakers which features "BoomSound".

Htc One will be available in two different colors : White and Black.

The phone will mostly be available in March. For now, there's no specific date and price for it's launch in India.

With MWC '13 just a week ahead and the rumors of Samsung's next flagship device, Galaxy S IV, to be announced on March 14, it will be interesting to see where this device stands in the upcoming months.
