Review : Subway Surfer

By Sukesh Kumar

The limits of a mobile game has changed rapidly over the past few years. Users prefer games that can be played in short bursts at any time without much of skills and knowledge over the heavier ones and that's the reason why we find these games to be the most popular games on App Store and Play Store.
Subway Surfer is one of those games which you'll keep coming back to and the best thing about this game apart from being awesome is that it's completely free(on both iOS & Andriod).

Simple way to describe Subway Surfer is as yet another version of an endless runner which can be compared to Temple Run, but with some major changes that makes this game much more fun.The game was first released on Apple App Store and after getting the huge success on this platform they launched it on Play Store.

Let's start with the Subway Surfer - Launch Trailer

As the trailer depicts, the main objective of the game is to run along a set of subways tracks for as long as you can, collecting coins and power-ups while avoiding a series of obsacles such as trains, barricades, tunnels and more.
Controls of this game is similar to Temple Run - Swipe your finger left or right on the screen to make your character switch between the three vertical tracks.
There are various power-ups that can be collected to enhance your score. The Jetpacks and Coin Magnets helps you to earn tons of coin, while the Sneakers and Multiplier barely earn you any additional coins. Personally, I feel Sneakers are waste as they most likely increases the chances of you getting hit by the train or bang your head on the wall. You can complete a series of missions that reward you with even more coins. Like Resurrection wings in Temple Run, here we are provided with Hoverboards which protects you from crashing for 30 seconds(activated by double tapping when running). Coins can be purchased if you want but earning them is quiet fast on your own so it's not at all necessary to buy any stuffs with real money.

The characters in the game have been given a very smart and cute look, the surroundings are colorful and bright, and the animation is really smooth without any noticeable hitches.
User can log in through Facebook and compare scores with their friends regardless of the platform(iOS or Android).

Here are some of the screenshots :

We really loved this game. It's not like the game is one of it's kind, but still it's quiet better than the ones out there in many ways.
