Sony Xperia Z Review

Its here!! Sony's best in a smartphone - XPERIA Z. The much awaited Sony's flagship device is here in India. The phone was initially revealed at CES 2013 where it was marketed as 'water-proof and dust-proof smartphone' with all top-notch hardware specifications. Xperia Z is priced at ₹37,990 in India.
Lets go through every aspect of this smartphone and see how much effort Sony has put into this thing.

Design and Build Quality

No doubt, the phone looks stunning. Sony has really put in a lot of effort on making this phone look different from existing ones and they have succeeded to some level. (HTC One aluminum shell casing takes away the crown). The phone is glass-cased just like iPhone 4/4S from front and back which makes the phone very fragile to drops and it's not even Gorilla Glass which is quiet a turn down.

Xperia Z being a water-proof phone, all the ports are covered with a clip-case. This is quite  annoying as one has repeatedly open and close those ports for multiple purposes like listening to songs, charging, data transfer etc.
Xperia Z is available in 3 colors : Black , White & Purple

Screen

Sony Xperia Z comes with 5.0 inch FULL HD TFT capacitive touchscreen with resolution of 1080x1920 pixels carrying a pixel density of 441 ppi. The phone is also powered with Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 which makes sure that user is never disappointed with the visual experience of the phone. Not Gorilla, but Xperia Z does come with Shatter proof and scratch-resistant glass.

Processor And Memory

Xperia Z is powered by with 1.5 GHz Krait Qualcomm MDM9215M / APQ8064 Quad-core Processor with Adreno 320 GPU and 2 GB RAM.  It comes with a built-in 16 GB internal memory which is expandable upto 64GB via Micro SD slot.

Software

Sony Xperia Z runs Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) which means you get Google Now, Project Butter and many other improvements.

Camera

Xperia Z packs in 13MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash producing images with resolution of 4128x3096 pixels. The additional features includes face detection, image stabilization, HDR, sweep panorama. It record videos at 1080p @ 30fps with video stabilization.
It also features a 2.2 MP secondary camera which too records video at 1080p @ 30fps.

Battery

Sony Xperia Z is juiced up by 2330 mAh non-removable battery which will keep your phone up for a day on moderate use. But if you are social-freak, it might disappoint you.

Conclusion

Overall, Sony Xperia Z is really nice smartphone for the current market. Where all other companies are launching their flagship devices at a price tag of 43-45k, Sony is giving you similar configuration at a much lesser price and great performance.

Sony Officially Launches Play Station 4: Specs

As it was planned to be Sony held an event today to officially unveil Play Station 4. The next-gen gaming platform is designed to shift focus from the living room to the gamer as Sony said, they wanted to create a gaming platform where the gamer is not restricted anywhere  He can easily game anywhere he wants to.

So finally after a long wait the Play Station 4 is out and features like a x86 based PC making it easy for a developers to develop, stunning graphics, 8 gigs of DDR5 memory and with massive internal hard- drive.

Dual shock 4 Controller:

The most appreciated change that we have seen with the launch of PS4 is the controller. It features a touchscreen and on the rear it contains a light bar to identify it's players. It also contains a earphone jack which may be used for voice chat and also the PS4’s built-in 3D camera detects the player using the light bars. Mostly it can be called as PS Vita styled touch-pad.

Other Specs:

The hardware is somewhat trying to borrow tricks from mobile games which allows users to put there game in freeze and easily resume without actually turning on/off their console. The advanced video sharing option has enabled users to stream videos while playing them. The background downloading system allows users to play games before they are installed completely on your local drive. Another important change in gaming pattern observed in PS4 is that you can help your friend remotely to get out of a tough point where he is struck. iOS and Android platform users will soon see an update app which will allow them to control their PS4 from their smartphones. There's also a huge PS Vita integration.

PlayStation 4's lead system architect Mark Cerny holds a gaming control device during the unveiling of the PlayStation 4 launch event in New York. (Reuters)
However Microsoft X-Box 720 is on it;s way to com-petite against the magnificent Play Station 4. Let's see who beats and what are the chances of which console will dominate the next-gen gaming platform.

After Sony Xperia Z Phablet,Xperia Z Tablet Is On It's Way !!

I think around 10 days back at CES'13,the Japanese Giant Sony released Xperia Z with which it entered the race of Phablets competing with Samsung,Htc and other brands. We have been getting Rumors about the Xperia Z tablets, and Sony has announced it officially Today in Japan. It had gained a lot of attention in CES and people were loving this Phone.According to one of my friends named Arpit who is a big Apple fan said "This is the only phone I would go instead of an iPhone".

Getting into it's Specifications it has a a 10.1-inch 1,920 x 1,200 screen (with Mobile Bravia Engine 2)with  a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core APQ8064 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage, an 8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera, NFC, LTE (MDM9215M radio).. It will be available in black and white colour options.

Sony has blasted the market with launching smartphones one after another,It had even launched Xperia S tablets but was shut down due to some defects. We hope this time there are no hiccups.

But the big question is Will it be able to compete with iPad ?? Let us see and hope for the best.

Game over PlayStation 2 !!

Things change people move on with technology and forget the old ones so is the case with PlayStation 2.Japanese electronic giant Sony will stop making PlayStation 2 in Japan,so that they can pay full attention to PlayStation 4 but it is still in a rumor .Fortunately for PlayStation 2 owners, this doesn’t mean that Sony will stop making video games for the console. Next spring, the next installment for Final Fantasy will be released.

The PS2 is the best-selling game console of all time and its wide use is also thought to have aided the popularity of DVD.Since launching in 2000 the PlayStation 2 (PS2), which has a Blu-ray player, has sold more than 150 million units worldwide.I still remember the times when i used to play on PS2 and it was fun, there was nothing which could compete with it,but now there are plenty.

Despite rumours that Sony will make announcements about the PS4 in mid-2013, the firm has not given any official details of the specifications of the hardware nor when it might be released.
The firm did not say what its plans were for production in other parts of the world.

Rooting Sony Xperia : S,T,P,Acro S,Ion,Tipo,Tablet S,Go,Sola,U

Sony has really being doing well with its Xperia 2012 series this year. And with ICS released for almost all Xperia phones, user are very much interested in rooting their smartphones to get the best out of it.

What's rooting? Well,  Rooting is basically becoming the 'super-user' of your android device. Unlocking functions of the device that are locked from the factory, and gaining access to the file and operating system that you cant otherwise access. It invalidates warranty. If don't follow the procedure properly you may end up with a "bricked" device that is hard or impossible to restore, It's unlikely but possible.

This rooting method will work only for Android 4.0(ICS) and above.

Sony Xperia to receive jelly bean updates, know here when ??

By Harkirat Singh(Twitter)(Google+)

People have been waiting for Jelly bean update for a long time and there's some good news for the Sony-Xperia fans but its not great, they have to wait for a long time before they get this update :(

As said in the community forum of  sony offcial blog it said it will be updating sony phones in the first quater of 2013

They said:
"Hello everyone,
There’ve been a fair few questions here on the blog, our support forum and our social media channels, regarding upgrade plans for Android 4.1 (also known as Jelly Bean). Today we are happy to give you a bit of an update. Our latest models, Xperia T and Xperia TX are shipping across global markets as you read this post, and Xperia V is on the way shortly – these smartphones will begin to receive the upgrade to Jelly Bean from mid-Q1 2013.
Next up, we can confirm the global versions of Xperia S, Xperia acro S, Xperia ion, Xperia P, Xperia go and Xperia J will be upgraded to Android 4.1* – we will be back with detailed timings for these in due course.
We were glad to provide the Android 4.0.4 upgrade for our 2011 Xperia portfolio across most markets and the majority of models but, after thorough evaluation, we have concluded they will not be upgraded beyond Ice Cream Sandwich.
As we have compared Jelly Bean comes with new features like offline voice typing, auto arranging of icons, and a predictive keyboard. It also sports Google Now, a richer use of the company's Knowledge Graph. Google Now can memorize your normal commute from home to work and back, then provide alternate routes if it detects traffic.

A new way of touching your touchscreen "Floating Touch" !

By-Rustam Ali

Want to experience touch screen without even touching the screen?
Floating Touch is the feature that allows you to just give a gesture above the screen and the screen will sense it as a touch, this is done by overriding the sensitive  capacitive touch panels now majorly used in smartphones. This feature was initially developed for just some live wallpapers and applications then it was embedded for the whole user interface, Sony Xperia Sola was the first phone to use this feature.

Successful porting of this feature has been carried out on Samsung Galaxy S Plus and Samsung Galaxy SL. So if you too want to try out this feature on your Samsung Galaxy S Plus or Samsung Galaxy SL then just download the application attached below and install in your device.

You can get the application here.
