Nokia Lumia 620 Review

The most awaited Windows Phone 8 finally launched in India, Nokia Lumia 620. This phone brings all the major features of a Windows Phone 8 Smartphone at a very affordable price. Initally, it was tagged as "the cheapest Windows Phone 8 Smartphone" but now we also have Lumia 520 waiting for it's release in India.

The day Lumia 620 got released in India,  I was there in an Nokia Priority Store experiencing this device and exactly 6 Lumia 620 were purchased right in front of me. This clearly show how people were desperately waiting for this device to launch. Nokia Lumia 620 is priced at ₹14,990.
No time to waste, lets go through this phone and see what it has to offer.

In The Box

Nokia Lumia 620 comes with a very limited amount of accessories which is pretty decent for the price you are getting it for. Apart from the smartphone, the box contains the usual earphones(not the in-ear), a USB cable, charger and phone's manual.

Build Quality

Well, Nokia has never disappointed us when it comes to build quality. The back casing of Lumia 620 is solid.(Like a Rock!!) After a long time I saw such a casing for a smartphone. Weighing in at just 127g, one can easily say this phone can take any humps and bumps but easily attracts fingerprints which can be quiet annoying. The same cannot be said for the display as its not gorilla glass. There is a dedicated camera key located below the power button on the right side of the phone and volume keys just above the power key. The 3.5mm jack is situated above the phone on the left side.

Screen

Nokia Lumia 620 comes with 3.8 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen with resolution of 480 x 800 pixels carrying a pixel density of 246 ppi which produces sharp and decent images. You will not be disappointed with the visual experience of this phone.

 Processor & Memory

Nokia Lumia 620 is powered by 1 GHz Krait Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4. It comes with built-in  8GB internal memory and expandable upto 64GB.

Software

Lumia 620 runs the latest Windows Phone 8 OS which makes it a catch for people looking for WP 8 at an affordable price. The OS is totally smooth and there are no noticeable lags.  The live tiles just works like a charm no matter the amount of applications you pin to start. But then again, lack of apps on this platform is quiet a drawback for now.
The phone is filled with Nokia apps which includes Nokia Drive, Nokia Maps (Offline Maps), Nokia Music and City Lens.

 Camera

Lumia 620 packs in a 5 MP camera with LED flash and auto focus and a secondary VGA camera.

The below pictures are taken using Lumia 620's primary camera.

Videos on Lumia 620 can be recorded at 720p at 30fps.

Battery

At last, Nokia Lumia 620 comes with 1300 mAh Li-Ion battery (BL-4J) which is really bad. If you are on 3G, it won't even last a day. If you are out somewhere on trip, its better not to rely on Lumia 620.

Conclusion

The phone stands upto any challenge in its range and its a must buy for those who are looking a sturdy phone with a reliable brand on it. The only place where one has to sacrifice is it's battery life.

Thumbs Up For Nokia Lumia 620!!

Book My Show Now Working Properly On Nokia Lumia 920 & Lumia 820

Book My Show,as we all know,  is a very famous website which is used for booking movie tickets, event tickets etc. It made life simpler when they released it for all popular mobile platforms like iOS, Android and 'Windows Phone'.

While this app runs smoothly on almost all demanding windows phone 7 devices with window's beautiful interface, it was quiet a disappointment when users found it not working on Nokia's much awaited smartphones, ie, Lumia 920 & Lumia 820 running Windows Phone 8.

Well, then came an update from Microsoft yesterday which seems to fix this problem and the app is now working properly on Windows Phone 8 (Lumia 920 atleast). Check the screenshots below :

The update was quiet small which brings us to the conclusion that Microsoft released it so that all Windows Phone 7 applications will now be supported by Windows Phone 8 too.

Windows Phone WhatsApp Bug

Windows Phone is undoubtedly becoming famous day by day. Microsoft has provided users with a completely different mobile interface to play with. Well, I recently got my hands on Nokia Lumia 920 and trust me it's freaking awesome!!

Now, like any normal user I too installed Whatsapp and was pretty impressed with the UI. Then, I thought why not explore the music player on this thing and as soon as I opened it I saw 'paused' button showing up. But Wait!! I never dumped any music on this thing so out of curiosity I tapped on it. Guess What!!?? From nowhere 'Whatsapp popped up'!! Strange!! It seems to happen all the time I tap on that 'paused' button. It seems any undefined space left on Windows phone opens up 'Whatsapp'. Check out the video below.

Well, Microsoft should resolve this issue as fast as possible because users are not liking it at all.

Nokia Lumia 920 Successor Will Have Thinner, Lighter Aluminium Body This Year

Nokia is planning to introduce a new set of devices in 2013. It's been reported by The Verge though company sources that this will be the successor to the existing launched Nokia Lumia 920. Nokia Lumia 920 was in market last year and it is now, but the Finnish company is trying to replace the existing poly-carbonate body with aluminium construction. We have seen the build Lumia 920 had was poly-carbonate running on windows mobile operating system.

Nokia Lumia 920

The current Nokia Project has a code name "Catwalk" and will replace the poly-carbonate body of existing Lumia 920 with aluminium body, very well we remember the days when Nokia used to provide aluminium body phones like Nokia N8 . It's a similar concept to produce one high end phone this year with same hardware configuration and change in outer material build. It's also in leaked news unconfirmed that Nokia is also planning to debut two new smartphones lined up as Lumia. Maybe what the body of Lumia couldn't do to compete against the product of Apple or Samsung, the new debut in line of Lumia could do that.

Hackinthus at the #NokiaAppTasting meet by Indiblogger !!

BY-Harkirat Singh (Twitter)(Google+)

Blogging is not about writing posts and getting views but it's all about passion and expressing yourself. There are many bloggers in the world, you may even know few of them in the virtual world but meeting them in person gives a totally new perception about them and their personality.
Thank's to indiblogger and Nokia for arranging such a marvelous blogger meet at ITC GARDENIA,Bangalore, but as far as i am concerned i was not quite happy about it because it was more of a Nokia meet rather than bloggers meet but surely no one will invest without having benefit to itself,So Nokia it was fine but i have to tell you the arrangements made by them were great and you would feel like you have been invited to some board meeting rather than a blogger meet.

The main agenda of his meet was to showcase and get new ideas for the apps and ofcourse some awesome food. The Host for the show were Rajiv Makhni,NDTV tech guru host and Vikas Khanna,Hottest Masterchef. Their stage presence was awesome and they set the stage on fire with their wit and humour especially,Rajiv Sir.
Weird right ?? Tech guru with a Chef as a host, even i was confused but after a brief introduction i got it.It was the #NokiaAppTasting where good food meets good Apps, and i am both a tech freak and a food junkie, you can see me right(:P).I (Harkirat Singh) even got a chance of meeting the Tech Guru personally and asked him for some tips that might help hackinthus to grow.

I even got a chance to meet Vikas Sir but i couldn't ask him for any recipes(:P).Not to forget i even a made a friend Ramanan Sir and he proudly says i am 63,ha ha,He was full of life and came here to see young bloggers, how do they think and interact , i hope he was not let down.
First we started with introduction of some of the blogger and unluckily i was not called on stage :( ,but there's always a next time and the blogger to give the best intro was given a gift hamper, there were other events like onion cutting competition, the App developing idea,I know the ideas that were told but i would not reveal them here, there was a quiz round too.
So ,you think these competitions were without gifts, surely not there were giveaway like Nokia Lumia 510 and 900 and did not win either of them, but there were some lucky winners. There are many other aspects and so many things i cant tell and  as it a tech Blog i would rather get down to my job.

The main apps that were showcased in the meet were -:

1) Alcohol Test

The main aim of this app is to test how much are you drunk You have to fill in some of the details as shown in the screenshot and you have to then blow into your phone and it will let you know the alcohol content in your body, pretty amazing right Rajiv even invited some Drunk bloggers on the stage to test how much wine had they costed to Nokia  :P

2) Gangnam style dance guide

I hope you all know Gangnam has a Guinness world record of most liked video, and their's an app which can guide and teach you how to dance and learn these steps.

Let me tell you this was the most amazing part of the meet where people were dancing like crazy and judges were no exceptions to it,even they had to Gangnam. This event continued for a long time and it was being enjoyed by all.

3)Nokia city lens

This is a super amazing app which tells you what's outside your wall or places that are nearby. It works with the camera to help you discover the city around you and what it has to offer. All you need to do is launch the app and hold your device up and voila you can see all that surrounds you we saw this app live in action.

4)Silent film director

This was an another super amazing app where you can make movies in Charlie Chaplin style without any knowledge of editing. In the demonstration of this app Vikas khanna and two other bloggers were made to walk the ramp and then Rajiv showed us the power of this app and became a director.

                                           Credit-NDTV

There were personal experiences too where i met some of the bloggers and got certain tips i can surely name them Anand,Akshay,Nikhil, and many others and ya not to forget i was even in the top 10 twitters for the event(:P)

I think this event was a great success for both Nokia and indiblogger, wish them luck for their further event and i am eagerly waiting for the next event !! :D

Nokia India brings FC Barcelona to India
Unveils new brand campaign‘Tiki Taka with Nokia Lumia’around the association

New Delhi, October 22, 2012: Nokia India, today, announced its association with FC Barcelona at a high octane unveiling in New Delhi. This makes Nokia the first brand to join hands with FC Barcelona in India. The long term association is aimed at creating an engagement platform to bring Indian fans closer to football. Nokia India also unveiled its new brand campaign for this association, ‘Tiki Taka with Nokia Lumia’, to broaden consumer engagement around club football.

FC Barcelona is one of the most successful teams in the world, being the first team in history to win 6 titles in the same season. The association brings these two brands together in India that share a common belief of leading through values. Through this association, Nokia India and FC Barcelona will reach out to football enthusiasts through retail, on ground activation, television, digital and social media.

Speaking on the association, D. Shivakumar, SVP, Nokia India Middle East & Africa (IMEA) said, “It is a matter of great pride to be associated with FC Barcelona, which is one of the finest success stories in the world of sports today. This association is particularly special for us as Nokia and FCB share similar beliefs and values. Nokia has always believed in connecting the youth with their passions. ‘Tiki Taka with Nokia Lumia’ is aimed at bringing football fans closer to their favourite club, FC Barcelona. The campaign is based on FC Barcelona’s famous style of play — ‘Tiki Taka’. However, more than the style of play, the campaign embodies the philosophy of Tiki Taka – sharing, connecting people, being spontaneous and social. The consumer campaign, unveiled jointly by Nokia India and FC Barcelona, will run for 6 months, enabling fans to constantly engage with the brands through a variety of touchpoints including digital, television, on ground activation and an exclusive mobile app on Nokia Lumia smartphones.
