Downgrade iOS 6 to 5.1.1
To  downgrade your device make sure that it is an A4 device or lower version gadget, has SHSH blobs, has a software called Redsnow and a 5.1.1 firmware file for the device present. SHSH is a manual software program designed by Apple to undergo such downgrades while,RedSn0w is a freely available iOS jailbreaking software. If your device succeeds on this criterion then it can be converted back to iOS 5.1.1.
The process for the downgrade simply involves the use of RedSn0w and the SHSH Stitching feature in it. This feature allows combining the IPSW file and SHSH file for iOS 5.1.1 so that it can be downgraded on from iOS 6. All that needs to be done is to follow a series of steps.

  1. The first step for the downgrade is to download RedSn0w 0.9.14b2 on your device (Windows/Mac).
  2. Next download the 5.1.1 IPSW file compatible for your device.
  3. Find the iOS 5.1.1 SHSH blobs of your device and either store it on your PC or on Cydia Apple software. But before proceeding make sure you know the location of the file so that the process can go on smoothly.
  4. Then choose the DFU mode for your device to run on during the downgrade.
  5. Open the RedSn0w software and from it go to Extras.
  6. In the Extras menu go to SHSH blobs and there you will see a button for “Stitch”.
  7. Click it. In the next window that opens click on IPSW button and choose the appropriate file.
  8. In the blobs option, choose “Local” if the SHSH blobs of your device are stored on PC and choose the file.
  9. Select Cydia if the blobs’ location is Cydia.
  10. On the successful selection of both IPSW file and blobs the RedSn0w will start to stitch both the files together.
  11. The result will be an all-encompassing firmware file for iOS 5.1.1. Although Apple has discontinued the signing of iOS 5.1.1 but still you will be able to continue with the process.
  12. In the RedSn0w software go back two pages select the Pwned DFU option. This helps the restoration of iTunes using the stitched firmware. If this is not done an error designated 1600 will occur restricting you to use the app.
  13. When you open iTunes now, it will be found in recovery mode.
  14. Click on the Option button and from the drop box that appears click on restore.
  15. Select the newly merged iOS 5.1.1 file, the prefix for which will be prefixed by ECID of the device which consists of a series of 13 numbers.
  16. Even after restoring has completed you may get an error again in accessing. Go back to RedSn0w, select Extras and choose “Recovery fix” button.
  17. For the recovery to happen change the mobile back again to DFU mode.
  18. With the completion of the recovery, the mobile will be converted to iOS 5.1.1 from iOS 6.
If you follow these simple steps then your gadget will be converted to iOS 5.1.1 swiftly and correctly. Just look out for the requirements of the program.
