Here’s how the iOS apps will look on the 4-inch New iPhone

In past couple of days, we’ve been talking a lot of iPhone 5 and there’s a reason for that as well – it’s getting closer. Recently, we reported that iOS 6 is scalable to 640×1136 resolution which is reportedly the exact screen resolution of next generation iPhone. The discovery of iOS 6’s scalability wasn’t a coincidence but it was proper surgical attempt in which an iOS developer tweaked iOS 6’s Simulator to achieve those results. As we reported yesterday that 640×1136 is the only resolution on which we can see 5 rows of icons on homescreen properly any resolution above or below 640×1336 will break the display pattern. Yesterday’s report has authenticated all previous reports about a possible iPhone 5 with 640×1136 resolution display.

Now coming to the bigger picture of the story, we’ve already shown you how your home screen would look in iPhone 5 but have you ever wondered how your native apps would look like on 4 inch 640×1136 resolution display? Folks over 9to5Mac in collaboration with famous iOS developer created some images via the very iOS 6 simulator which displays Native iOS apps running on 640×1136 resolution.
You can clearly see how apps are scaling themselves to fit this new resolution. You can see 5 row homescreen just as we showed you yesterday, then you can see the lock screen which is looking odd but I’m sure the fruit company will tweak it somehow. The interesting thing to note here is homescreen folders. They automatically scale themselves to accommodate 16 apps and this number is limited to 12 in iPhone 4S.
Though basic iOS elements likes TableViews are scalable but applications like Calculator and Voice Memos show black bars on top and bottom of the app. It is still not sure whether this is because of the tweaked simulator or this is the Apple would treat iOS 5 apps which are not designed for 640×1136 resolution display.
