R.I.P Installous

We are a bit late with this one but just a couple days ago we came to know that our very famous Pirate App Store for iOS, "Installous", has shut down along with the whole of Hackulous team. 

For those who don't know about "Installous", Installous was just like Apple App Store with all the pirated apps in it. It was one of the most easiest way to download any paid application for free on a jailbroken device.

With Hackulous down, anti-piracy advocates will be celebrating. Users currently using Installous will no longer be able to access the app at all - it pops up with a message 'Installous will now terminate'. It's even been removed from the Cydia store.

There was a short message on their website related to their closure

We are very sad to announce that Hackulous is shutting down. After many years, our community has become stagnant and our forums are a bit of a ghost town. It has become difficult to keep them online and well-moderated, despite the devotion of our staff. We're incredibly thankful for the support we've had over the years and hope that new, greater communities blossom out of our absence.

Ubuntu Mobile OS Is All Set To Be Revealed At CES 2013

The countdown is finally over and the suspense is out! Ubuntu can now fit into your phone too.

Its really a huge step taken up by the Ubuntu team to come out with a mobile OS and compete with existing ones, I mean to say will users really stop using Android(Jelly Bean) for Ubuntu OS?? Is it gonna be that great?? Well, we will surely come to know in the upcoming CES event. For now, Ubuntu is out with their Industry Proposition in which Ubuntu Founder, Mark Shuttleworth, explains Ubuntu's mobile strategy and what it offers to users. After going through this video one will definitely say, they look quiet promising and confident about their OS.

Pakistan Could Have Seen Glimpse Of YouTube Today For Three Minutes!

Could you imagine yourself of being restricted on using Google owned video sharing website YouTube. Well this may be the case you might have heard before with Pakistan. This happened way back in September when an anti-Islam film, innocence of Muslims appeared on the website. This film created a huge spark creating the Muslim country to enter various riots creating national disturbance, ultimately the Govt. banned the website from being accessed in Pakistan.

However, people from Pakistan could have enjoyed a three minutes glimpse of YouTube after that the website was taken down again and blocked. 

Why did the officials just lifted the ban for three minutes. No doubt we have the inquisitiveness of knowing why did that happen. Reason does not lie that the officials just wanted to play on/off game but rather they thought that the anti-Islam film could have been removed. 

Pakistan interior minister Rehman Malik  wanted always to remove this ban as YouTube is at the same time a huge resource for education, entertainment and news. Finally he tweeted today stating people " Hope you are all happy now ".

Sooner the ban was lifted and maybe some people from Pakistan might have caught the glimpse of famous video "Gangam Style" but it was reported by private news Network Geo that the film still existed on the website. Finally  Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, knowing that the material still existed put back the ban on YouTube again. 

This is not the first time Pakistan has done this with YouTube. The site was blocked in 2008 after cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad outraged many Muslims. It was blocked again in 2010 over "blasphemous" material. The country has also gone after Twitter and Facebook on similar charges.

You may still be amazed that how such Social Networking Sites could provoke people in mass so much but reports have said it does exist and Govt. have no option rather than blocking people to access it.

Sony Might Reveal PlaySation 4 As They Send Out Invites For 'Destination PlayStation'

The Event called as Destination PlayStation (2013) has been confirmed in an invitation to the press. Event will start from 25th of February and last till 28th of February showing off all the new releases from Sony Computer Entertainment. We are also expecting the next-gen PS, ie, Play Station 4 to be revealed. Hackinthus will be covering the entire event and will keep you updated with all the details.
 









As of now, Sony has stopped the production for PlayStation 2 in Japan, so we are expecting a possible release for PS 4.

Blackberry 10 Leaked Images

Blackberry has been out from the market for a very long time and its time they are ready to jump back into it with their most awaited Blackberry 10 smartphones. Reportedly, there are going to be two Blackberry 10 devices - first one will be full touchscreen device known as the L-Series while the second one will be touch along with standard blackberry qwerty keypad(we are not sure about this one).

Well, what we have here is the leaked images for the first one, i.e, the L-Series. These images were first leaked by Vietnamese site Tinhte.vn. The images reveals slots for a micro-SIM as well as microSD memory card, along with a 'removable' 1800 mAh battery.

Game over PlayStation 2 !!

Things change people move on with technology and forget the old ones so is the case with PlayStation 2.Japanese electronic giant Sony will stop making PlayStation 2 in Japan,so that they can pay full attention to PlayStation 4 but it is still in a rumor .Fortunately for PlayStation 2 owners, this doesn’t mean that Sony will stop making video games for the console. Next spring, the next installment for Final Fantasy will be released.

The PS2 is the best-selling game console of all time and its wide use is also thought to have aided the popularity of DVD.Since launching in 2000 the PlayStation 2 (PS2), which has a Blu-ray player, has sold more than 150 million units worldwide.I still remember the times when i used to play on PS2 and it was fun,there was nothing which could compete with it,but now there are plenty.

Despite rumours that Sony will make announcements about the PS4 in mid-2013, the firm has not given any official details of the specifications of the hardware nor when it might be released.
The firm did not say what its plans were for production in other parts of the world.
